UCSF hosted Dr. Maria Matamoros and members of her multidiscipinary team for the inaugural site visit to experience and learn first-hand about the supporting center's pre-transplant evaluation and selection processes, intraoperative techniques and post-operative protocol driven care.
Visit Highlights
During their week-long visit, members of the Emerging Center's team observed liver transplants, rounds and clinics and sat in on the weekly morbidity and mortality conference and living donor liver selection meeting. Individuals also met with colleagues in pathology, transplant nursing staff, hepatology, anesthesia, living liver donor coordinator and the living transplant program manager. The visit ended with a tour of Donor Network West, the local organ procurement and tissue recovery organization in Northern California and Nevada, and a farewell reception.
