Discussion of the high incidence rate, in particular of the liver-predominant type, of Wilson’s Disease (WD) in Costa Rica (4.9/100,000 inhabitants). The majority of patients with WD exhibit a liver-predominant disease, of whom more than 5% present with fulminant liver failure. Several patients with ALF due to WD, who would otherwise be considered for a transplant, do not make it to transplant.
